| I was at work yesterday and we were on a call for a cardiac patient. I was takin the vitals and evaluating the patient before rafael got there and then he arrives and goes to start an IV... Well the patient was in a nursing home and he was kind of older and not in good shape. Only making his veins smaller and harder to find. So rafael goes to start the line and he cant seem to be able to sink it. He can feel it but he just cant get it . Then another resident is watching tv and MASH comes on.. so here is rafael trying to start an IV with mash playing in the background and it didnt seem to help him much.. In fact it only made him more frustrated. Good times had by all...........

| well things at work are great I got a new partner and i am working on a different portion of the service. Now I work on what is called bariatric rig. We have a power cot and we specialize in moving the larger patients. I also bought a 2002 jeep liberty. Its pretty much amazing. If there was one thing I wish i could change in my life right now.... I think it would be friends. I wish I could be like my older brother who always had lots and lots of friends over and he always had someone to hang out with. Lately I havent had too many people coming over and hanging out. Its kind of a lonely time in my life. But I will say that it is helping me focus on what things I need to change. So maybe its not all bad right? well peace love and chicken grease. Im out like a fat kid in dodgeball.

| I have a horrible story to tell! Yesterday April 3rd I was at work and I heard one of my best friends from work on the radio and this is what i heard from the radio conversation. dispatch " 126 what address are you responding to..." John " my home address" dispatch "10-4 let me know if you need ALS" (Advanced Life Support) a few minutes go by....... John " 126 dispatch 10-76 to st. catherines 3A ( lights and sirens with a paramedic on board) dispatch " you do know that st catherines is on by pass dont you?" John "yes its all taken care of "
ok so now at this point of the conversation im freaking out cause like i said he is a good friend and if the hospital is on bypass and they are still goin there it is serious.....
so later on in the day i try gettin ahold of john and im not able to.. which i figured he was just in the hospital with his family member. well then i was at the gym last night and i saw another guy i work with who told me the whole story of what happened. Johns 19 year old sister who is in EMT school woke up and found her dad dead. She starts cpr and calls john. John goes home and helps his sister work their own father. then john has to be the EMT who drives his own dead father to the hospital! How messed up is that??? I would quit my job if that same situation happened to me. John is a lot stronger than I. He kept his calm doing cpr on his own dad and then drove him in. well thats the end of my story.

| so im starting this new idea maybe it will become a book some day.. its called you know you work in gary indiana when... It sorta takes on the same thing like jeff foxworthy "you might be a redneck" except mine are based on real experiences I have had in Gary.
you know you work in gary when...... #1 youre driving down 5th ave (one of the busiest streets in the city) and a woman comes and taps on the window of your ambulance and asks you for a ride.
#2 a huge black man walks up to your window and asks you for a burn patch for his wife whom is at home.....
#3 a man walks up to your window and asks you for a nickel... (wether he was talkin about a piece of curency nickel or a nickel bag we arent sure of I didnt have either)
#4 You are dropping a patient of at home and the police come driving up and ask you how long you have been there and then ask if you heard gun shots.......
